A large (and apparently) new female monarch with perfect wings and scale coloring arrived in the garden in the afternoon around 3:00 p.m. She stayed for several hours while nectaring exclusively on tropical milkweed blooms (Asclepias curassavica). Our previous monarch sighting was a female who visited on May 30th to nectar on red pentas flowers.
