Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/28/2018

Number: 18

I saw a fair number of Monarchs while doing some spot weeding on our grassland. These are the parents of the migrating generation so I hope they have a strong offspring for the flight south. Prairie blazing star, Purple prairie clover and Virginia mountain mint are the nectar sources right now. We had very abundant milkweed this season along with adequate rainfall for the nectar sources. Hoping for a good 2018 Monarch crop from here.
