One monarch chasing what looks like a mating flight of red admirals, but there were three of them, so it may have been a red admiral fight. The monarch returned to the sunlit perch where one of the red admirals had been sitting. Subsequently, the monarch appeared to be being chased by a red admiral.
I've given up trying to count monarchs and eggs in the past couple weeks, because there are constant chases involving two or three males, and there are females dodging in and out of all corners of our yard. Many milkweeds have several eggs on them, and I've had a hard time finding egg-free milkweeds to feed to the caterpillars I have indoors.
