We have had one Monarch on our Swamp Milkweed for most of the week, quietly nectaring on the blooms. Today another Monarch arrived, and the dynamics quickly changed. The Monarch pictured (a crusty old male) is very aggressive, and he chases any other Monarch he encounters all around the yard. I'm not sure if he is chasing males or females, but he is always on the chase. When he is not chasing, he perches on the leaves of a tree near our Swamp Milkweed waiting for his next "victim".
