I was visiting a relative and went for a walk along a country gravel road. Corn field on one side; soybeans on the other. Spotted the monarch flying around the bean field, and watched her land on ditch milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). I checked the leaves she had been on, but found no eggs. Granddaughter had told me an hour earlier that she saw a "big, orange butterfly" in a nearby area.
