Observed approximately 12 adult Monarch butterflies at Beaver Island State Park on August 5, 2018. Two Monarchs were observed mating; first observed flying while mating, then perched on a goldenrod plant (photo). Cannot recall ever previously seeing Monarchs mating. Very encouraging to see good numbers of adults in this New York State Park on Grand Island.
