Today between 4 and 6PM, I went on my walk to Harrisville to count monarchs and collect monarch larva. I saw no monarchs on the way to town. Afterwards, I went to the health department area and across the street to the marina and saw no monarchs. Then I went to the Harrisville Harbor and observed 11 monarchs. A pair were seen mating and another pair were in courtship. I saw 6 males and 5 female monarchs. I also collected one monarch larva. On my way back to Harrisville State Park, I saw one monarch in town and counted 3 monarchs flying about milkweed along 3rd Street. Finally, at the park I counted 2 more monarchs and collected another monarch larva. I now have seven larva in my condo tent. These are what I will use at my Monarch Presentation and Tagging Event. Weather was sunny and 78F.
