Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 08/15/2018

Number: 1

We saw hummingbirds from 29 March 2018 through 2 May 2018, and again since 11 July 2018 (off and on until 31 July 2018). We have been seeing ruby throated hummingbirds every day (sometimes two at once) since 31 July 2018, mostly nectaring from flowers but lately eating from tube feeders. The attached photo shows an immature male (likely hatched in the area) nectaring from cuphea at 615 am today. This year is the first that we have had hummingbird sightings on more than one day in July (starting in April 2017 we added a lot of hummingbird flowers to our yard). We usually do not get them until late August.
