Amid the plants and patio porch of Monarch Waystation No. 21186, I watched 7 Monarchs emerge from their chrysalises late this morning and afternoon. (Identified 4 males and 2 females; unable to determine sex of the 7th.) All made first flight by 5 pm.

During this period I also witnessed three more Monarchs flying through nearby yards in a purposeful southwesterly direction, and assumed they are migrating to Mexico.

Finally, shortly after 7 pm on our patio porch adjacent to milkweed plants, I discovered 2 more Monarchs drying, stretching, taking first steps and flapping wings. 1 male. Sex of other undetermined.
