Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/19/2018

Number: 25

Redding, Ct. 8/19/18. As of 3pm, the 35plus migrants that arrived yesterday have all departed, and my census is back down to about 25, including a few adult males.

My observations during the past 3 years seems to indicate that the bulk of the hummers arrive and depart almost simultaneously on a specific day. It is my opinion that they may communicate wth each other and travel as a loose grouping, if not as an actual flock? There may be "loners", as in any bird species, but overall they may be more sociable than previously considered. They definitely have a "pecking order". I would appreciate any comments concerning from more experienced birders than myself, and any books or printed material that you could provide. Thank you. Nicolapirone44@icloud.com
