Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/20/2018

Number: 20

After dinner on 8/20, over a period of probably 1.5 hrs, I was able to tag 18 wild monarchs on my butterfly bushes in Bay Village, OH (and a couple got away). I would say this is a definite start to migration and I was very happy to see so many large, healthy, "fresh" monarchs nectaring in my garden. There was really only one that looked dull and a bit tattered. I also borrowed a microscope so I am able to check for OE and 100% were healthy! Woo hoo! This has been my busiest season yet raising them and I ordered extra tags, so I'm anxious to see how the future months will progress. Fingers crossed for a great rebound in population...so far looking good west of CLE!
