2 male and 3 female ruby throated hummers have been busily getting nectar from salvias, firecrackers, and nectar feeders. A female and male have staked out perches, the female in the backyard that sits on a nylon rope, and male that controls a Korean lilac tree in the front yard. Every so often 3 or 4 will fight over a feeder at the same time. It's fun to watch them spiral around catching insects. Quitting times in the evening have noticeably shortened from after 9:15 in July to between 8:05 and 8:15 now. Can't believe migration is here already.
