Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/26/2018

Number: 1

At 9:10 am I observed a Northern Paper Wasp predating a monarch caterpillar. I took several pictures of this event. I observed a Northern Paper Wasp prey on and eat a monarch caterpillar yesterday but didn't take a picture. After that event, I started documenting monarch larvae killed. Their remains can be found stained on milkweed leaves. Once I knew what to look for I could determine a caterpillar lost to predation.
