We counted 46 monarchs at Rick Evans Grandview Prairie near Columbus, Arkansas. Most of the butterflies were flying about three or four feet above the ground. A few were feeding on iron weed and other wild flowers that are in bloom now. We observed 8 females laying eggs on A. viridis. Checked one of the plants and found three eggs on that plant - must be many more eggs since there is an abundance of milkweed scattered over the prairie.
