Sightings report image

Date: 08/26/2018

Number: 15

Aug 26th 2018 at Point Pelee National Park late afternoon at The Visitor Center observed fresh looking Monarchs intensely nectaring on Goldenrod blossoms. A short time later at The Tip observed about 15 Monarchs on both east & west sides individually attempt to head out south over The Tip, some flying low & gaining altitude while others started out high & descended, lost sight of a few but most turned back to land.
A hot & very humid & hazy 27°c with 14kph SW wind
Strong south wind the next few days will likely prevent any arrivals from crossing Lake Erie.
