Around 5:40 p.m. today I spotted a beautiful, fresh monarch flying around my flower beds. I ran to get my camera but it never alighted long enough to identify as male or female or to get a picture. Alighted momentarily on a cosmos, a rose bush leaf, a zinnia, and a butterfly bush but did not appear to nectar. It was about 90 degrees with little breeze and sunny.
