Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/28/2018

Number: 27

Overcast today, hot, humid (think tropical and steamy:) 80+ degrees with humidity that matches temperatures. Due to the abundance of trees, flowers for nectar, and feeders, there are major hummingbird games going on in the forest habitat. Groups of 3, 5, 8 are playing, chasing, soaring, preening, eating. The dogwood tree is a favorite, as are tall maples, white pine and oaks. I thought all my resident boys left--au contraire, 3 are still here. Due to their play that is occurring in the dogwood tree and their presence by the dining room window, I'm sure they're residents; not visiting migrators.
