Very conservative estimate. This marshy type area has a lot of purple loosestrife. High winds from a severe storm flattened much of it so it was a bit more difficult to get an accurate count.
They could still be seen fluttering up from the plants farther in the distance. Several flew by as I walked along the edge of the marsh. In an area about 500 sq ft right in front of where I stood to take pictures there were no less than 9.
