Monarch Waystation #271 reports the following monarch larvae seen while weeding and tending the front and back beds today on and off between 9:40 am to 2:47 pm: 6 3rd instars [one in photo had just molted to that stage] on tropical milkweed in patio pots, 2 2nd instars on purple milkweeds in the front large bed, 1 2nd instar seen on swamp milkweed in back yard, 1 4th instar on tropical milkweed, 2 5th instars on tropical milkweed [one observed eating the leaf out from under said aphid, which fell off, the other a new 5th instar in small bed]. This was not a diligent search, just noted as I came upon them. I found the hindwing of a faded male monarch on the patio 10:15 am today, so Dad gave his all and Mom soldiers on...! You GO, girl!
