Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/30/2018

Number: 5

There might have been 6 or 7 different ruby throats observed today. But will state conservative count of 5. An adult male showed up on a nectar feeder at 6:30 am. 3 different immature males and an adult female were also identified. At one point in the evening 5 or 6 hummers zoomed across the yard at once. I did not see an adult male in the evening. So it's possible more migrating hummers showed up today. An immature male guards backyard nectar sources perching on hooks and bamboo stakes. Another immature male guards his front yard sources from a Korean lilac. Nectaring was tilted more towards feeders over flowers again this evening. But there was a fair amount of feeding on flowers including more at Firecrackers. Last hummer seen was at 8:00 pm. Same as previous evening.
