Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/31/2018

Number: 20

Just had a wave come through the Rio Frio Valley past several days. We were down to about 5-10 hummers, mostly Black Chins, now were up to around 25-30 with our 6 feeders. The group looks like an assortment of Rubies (they seem to be more aggressive defending the feeders than the Black Chins. Also sited what I thought was several younger Rufouses (had mixed greenish backs with rufuos colored tails and head).
In addition, I did see an older Rufous out under one of our Oak Trees. Might be the one that overwintered last year starting in September?
