Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/03/2018

Number: 27

Overcast, rainy, temperatures 80+ degrees with humidity to match--very tropical feel in the Michigan forest, almost 10 inches of rain the past 7 days. Great amounts of play this afternoon, with groups of 5 to 7 (females and juvies) soaring high into the sky (side by side) and playing in the white pine and dog wood trees. There's an vast abundance of food perhaps this accounts for all the social play. 17 feeders and masses of flowers. Nectaring from: Black & Bloom Salvia, Dicentria Luxuriant, Turtle Heads, Indian Pinks, Clematis Ragouchi, Delphinium, Blue Lobelia (native), Red Cardinal Flowers,Nasturiums, Hosta: Royal Wedding and Francine, Cuphea: Vermillionaire, Major Wheeler Honeysuckle, Hibiscus, Impatients, Phlox, Perennial Foxglove (yellow), Zinnias, Pentas, 4 o'clocks.
