Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/05/2018

Number: 15

I was told yesterday that peak migration could not be happening in my area of Texas yet as it usually occurs in October, which I am used to and familiar with. With that being said, I have never had so many Monarchs coming to my waystation before, and this includes October! During peak migration in October, I at most see around 8-11 a day for maybe 1-3 days. I am seeing a huge amount of Monarchs every day now for what I expect to see and each day just gets busier. I have Monarchs nectaring and chasing each other all over. I keep finding Monarchs hanging out in the trees and on branches. It got so bad today with the chasing that I kept seeing Monarchs dropping out of the sky onto the patio. I will be curious to see how many I actually get this year in October as this number of Monarchs here now is very unusual. I have monitored this waystation for almost 4 years.
