Sighted one adult monarch, not sure gender, hanging upside down on bent over branch of garden phlox. It has been raining every day for about a week now; this monarch's colors were deep and rich (although monarch small in size, appears healthy), not sure if it is a new one that left chrysalis today or relatively new one that was just drying off in between rain showers. First sighted appx 9 AM, but was still there upside down appx 1030 AM. Slight drizzle started so broke off leaf of nearby hosta for monarch umbrella, s/he liked it climbed right up it and continued to dry wings. Temp appx 68 deg, cloudy, low wind, occasional drizzle.
