During the past two weeks, I have watched at least one monarch lay eggs on my small patch of milkweed by my condo. I have brought the caterpillars inside and currently have 17 chrysalis and 6 caterpillars in 2 habitats eating milkweed. Today,I have seen 4-5 tiny caterpillars eating outside and will bring them in when they are bigger.
