Watched a female ruby throat nectaring. She was dipping her bill in the pale jewel weeds for about a half a minute or more.
These lovely plants make a hedge almost complete around our house in the woods. We have encouraged them to grow and thrive for many years now!
We started out with the spotted jewel weeds - then the pale variety moved in! Both lovely and popular with native bees and hummers.
