Our milkweed patch is substantial this year - probably 1/5 acre or so. I easily spotted 9 larvae (1 tiny, 1 medium and 7 large). I also spotted a chrysalis!
The plants are browning out and looking shabby but some are still fresh- I wonder why we never see larvae until so late in the season? Our plants were luscious all summer and not one bite of a leaf taken, although we saw visiting Monarchs all summer. We are seeing yellow aphids and ladybugs as well.
