Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/11/2018

Number: 3

There has been a steady group of Hummingbirds at the flowers in our back yard and at the hanging feeder off our deck at short intervals about 10 minutes apart for the past week. A massive swarm of honeybees arrived four days ago and drained the nectar feeder, devoured three full dishes of grape jelly for the Orioles, and covered the orange halves from dawn to dusk. The Hummers gave them room and opted to drink from the real flowers instead. Haven’t seen a male for over a week.
