Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/10/2018

Number: 40

I had been finding quite a few larva while collecting milkweed to feed larva at home found as eggs and small larva. I found many in my yard and also at the golf course. My supply of milkweed in my yard has been depleted because I have been able to find so many eggs and larva this year. I should be over 400 butterflies this year.
But a number of the large larva that I have brought in have died while J hanging. they seem to go limp and lose the "J". I call it "straight hanging". I lost at least 5 that way. Others shed their skin but then form an odd shaped chrysalis which does not develop. I have had at least five of these also
