Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/16/2018

Number: 40

The past few days were a little slower than usual. Didn't have nearly as many hummies, but that was somewhat expected given the situation with Hurricane Florence being just northeast of here. Today, however, it's back to 40+ hummies with numerous adult males. There's 10 feeders up and in use by multiple birds at all times while dozens of others flit about in the trees or chase each other. Just too many to count. It's like this here every year. Wondering why, as very few are observed at the neighbors. Loving it, though. There is a juvie or female that came in yesterday, that is VERY aggressive in protecting a feeder. It's actually pulling feathers out of other hummies. Never saw that before. They'll be missed greatly in a few short weeks, while the sugar grocery bill will decrease drastically. Enjoying them incredibly while they are here!!!
