I spotted many butterflies lifting upward into the jet stream while sitting on my back patio. The skies were clear and bright blue. They were definitely monarch butterflies. You could see their blazing bright orange wings with their distinctive features as the sunlight bounced off of their wings during flight. The wind current(s) took them up very high until they disappeared from my view. The wind direction was pulling them southwest from my location.
