Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/13/2018

Number: 200

The tree’s were so heavy with the monarch butterfly’s and they were fluttering all around at 2 pm. We don’t normally see them in NW Kansas as they usually are on the east side of the state. The ole farmers say it’s a sign of a very cold and snowy winter ahead. There was no nectar feeders present and they were mainly on fruit tree’s that haven’t had fruit for several weeks on the tree’s. It was a very warm day around 90* that day. What a beautiful sight and so blessed to have them come through our section of the state. Everyone in town is talking about how beautiful the butterflies have been

Hundreds and hundreds of them! Just tickled to finally have them in our part of the state.
