Observed along the railroad just west of town across from Whirlpool.
Some were nectaring some flying west. I saw a group of 10 together flitting around some goldenrod some in that group were lighting on a silver maple branch just above it. I have never seen that many it a group before so close together. Rather remarkable. It was a little past noon.
I saw a total of 64 monarchs during the run time from Muncie to Marion. It was 5 1/2 hours and 130 miles by train.
