The last two days there have been no monarchs migrating perhaps because of heavy cloud cover and rain. So between 10AM and 2PM today, I was surprised to observe 8 monarchs flying against a 23 mph wind with gust to 45 mph all day today. They landed in my wife's marigold and veggie garden and my flower garden. I was able to net and tag a female and a male monarch. Tags are YGN-976 and YGN-977. I saw no monarchs from 2PM to 4PM, so I went to Harrisville State Park and observed 2 more monarchs trying to roost; one in a maple tree in the main parking lot and the other one in tall shrubs at the beach. Temperature was 77F.
