3:45-3:50 p.m.--stood and watched 6 Monarchs nectaring on late blooming Ironweed and Butterfly Bushes on two parking lot islands that include Common and Swamp milkweed plants. I watched one Monarch drift in from the north/northwest over the library building, circle a few times over the plants in the parking lot where I stood, then land on an Ironweed blossom and remain to nectar near the other 5. Two were in this same area at 8:50 a.m. today. Noticeable increase in Monarch activity and movement over this part of Topeka today. See my earlier report of migrating Monarchs flying low over the State Capitol grounds a few minutes prior to this parking lot sighting.
