Nice sunny day about 73 degrees. Seen 5 monarchs necturing on purple wild asters and goldenrod. The butterflies were not in any hurry some stayed in the same area for over an hour.
Our milkweed field did pretty good lasting all season even though it has been very hot and dry in our area.
Lots of butterflies this year, my season started in mid May early for this area. I think we raised 4 generations, my last chrysalis are about to hatch and I am still seeing caterpillars in the wild. Out of the monarchs that I raised myself from eggs it was about 75 percent females, throughout the years it has been about 50/50.
The butterflies that are flying by are flying west, southwest. If our weather holds out we may be seeing monarchs well into October.
