Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/23/2018

Number: 3

Observation time was from between 6:30pm until last hummer in at feeders at 7:39pm. temperature during observation time was 71 degrees, 38% humidity, clear skies and wind at 7mph, gusting to 12mph out of the ESE. Three separate female adult hummers were observed making several visits to the feeders. Only the smallest of the three appeared to be a regular seasonal resident. One female hummer was extremely large in size and girth, probably the biggest female ruby throat hummingbird I've ever observed. Occasionally throughout the day a hummer was spotted at one of the eight feeders but the bees have been atrocious on the feeders and the hummers had to wait for an opening for a quick drink. Overnight temperature is expected to be around 53 degrees.
