Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/25/2018

Number: 1

Set out the feeder again as saw there were still hummingbirds up north. I was gone this weekend but yesterday evening (Sept. 24) I thought I saw a hummingbird at the feeder but could not verify. This morning, I had my binoculars so could verify I had a seemingly round (!) female or young ruby throated hummingbird that seemed quite happy to sit at the feeder for prolonged periods (relative term) at the feeder between feedings. This was a rainy morning so perhaps the feeder was a bit out of the way of the rain (hence the prolonged perch). Saw this likely same hummingbird a bit later this morning (Sept 25) as well but it fluttered more as it fed. Did not report earlier, but saw one (female or juvenile) on or around Sept. 5 at feeder as well as during my earlier reported sightings.
