I noticed Monarchs flying into and out of the trees at the edge of an open field. At around 6:00pm I saw only a few, but as I walked around the area,by 7:00pm I saw large groups gathered. Many were higher up in the trees and I couldn't get clear pictures with my phone. I got the best pictures near dusk, as they were settled and I could slowly approach very close to some that were on lower branches. The weather was calm and clear with only a moderately cool temperature at that time, probably around 70F.
