Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/28/2018

Number: 4

I have seen, this evening, between 5 pm and 7 pm, probably 4 different hummingbirds...two bickering over a feeder....i have SEVERAL FEEDERS OUT....one out front eating...those three all seemed to be youth or females...and one mature male! I believe they are all rubythroated...it's overcast...no color noted. ..70 degrees...earlier in August and early September i had maybe 50 hummingbirds, and had 13 feeders out. As the birds thin out, i am keeping fewer feeders. I once had a female hummer here in the first week of November, and before that, never any birds after October 12th. Recently no birds after October 1st.So i keep a few up, til i don't see any for awhile. I have a honey bee problem this early fall, too. They have taken over a couple of my feeders. There are still flowers around. I wish them well, but they and the birds jockey for a few of my feeders. Love my little hummingbirds. I hope they have a safe trip as they all make their way south for the winter.
