Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/30/2018

Number: 600

Say what??!! A Mated Pair in this Monarch Roost where they gathered in mostly one Hackberry Tree & nearby area.
Sept. 30th 2018 Evening
At The Tip at Point Pelee National Park
21°c & mostly sunny with light 6-20 kmh SE winds.
Viewed from West Path it was not easy to see all that were clustered.
At one point many became active, fluttering above the treetops (46 sec mark in video) drawing oooo's & ahhhhs from their visiting admirers.
The numbers grew from about 50 at 4pm & as they established their roost site it increased
to 200 before 6 pm & to 600 by 7:14pm sunset.
Always a pleasure!
