Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/01/2018

Number: 1

One very, chilly, hummingbird this morning--it rained most of the night and there is 100% chance of rain today; winds ENE 5-10 mph, 48 degrees. Hopefully she will indulge in feeders / flowers and move on with her migration. When she arrived late yesterday afternoon (Sunday, Sept 30) she appeared to be too weary to bother with flowers. Enjoying lengthly respites on the feeder and occasionally flying into the white pines for cover. We haven't had a frost in Michigan yet, so there are numerous, large, masses of flowers available. Black and Bloom Salvia is "The Favorite". Flower masses: Cuphea, Lantana, Obedient Plants, Turtle Heads, Nasturiums, Runner Beans, Zinnias continue to be available. Our migrating guest appears to be healthy, beautiful, and determined.
