Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/24/2018

Number: 104

With an approaching cold front on Monday, September 24th, this writer arrived at Rosetta McClain Gardens in Toronto about 1 pm, and observed monarchs streaming westward through this cultivated garden and landing in a large sheltered area containing many buddleia/butterfly bushes. In two hours, I captured and tagged 104 monarchs, but many hundreds more passed through the park that day. This park is located on the Scarborough Bluffs in east Toronto, where Lake Ontario lies 200 feet below this ridge of high lands.
