Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/02/2018

Number: 4

King (the small, male Ruby-throat hummingbird who has owned my backyard two years in a row) is long gone, and Reina (his wife) seems to have taken over his favorite perch above one of the feeders. We usually see four female hummingbirds in the morning, not so much in the evening. As before, one in the southeast Live oak, one in the southwest Live oak (which includes the favored perch), one interloper chasing around (or being chased around) the southwest Live oak, and one in the front yard. Yesterday morning I saw one very round looking female flying slowly in the back yard. Seemed like she's fueled up for the long trip!
