Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/04/2018

Number: 3

We still have 3-4 hummers. I think they may all be Juvenile Rubies. I have not heard the Black-chinned distinct wing sound since mid-summer w our adult male BC left. One is stationed @ the Front porch feeders & another one is guarding the backyard feeders. When tbe 3rd one tries to feed he/she sure does get chased alot. I am placing a different feeder separate from these areas tomorrow. 93 today still requiring daily feeder cleaning/changing. It felt like warm bath water at 8pm when I brought them in. I noticed that if the hummer (guarding feeder) is busy preening his feathers the 3rd one can slip in from around the other side of the house & feed without being noticed. We still have plenty of mosquito's but it sure seems to get dark quickly. Blooms on plants are decreasing ea. Day. Wished I had bought some Pineapple Sage for Fall. I did not see the one slip over the fence but did not have time to look for that one 2day.
