Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/05/2018

Number: 5

We put our yard on the hummingbirds’ radar with H U G E shiny red ribbons, practically screaming “PICK ME!” near every feeder. Every two days we’d wash/change the nectar, and weekly fertilize the cigar plants, shrimp plants, pentas, bougainvilleas, and red-orange blooming milkweed. I was smugly congratulating myself on being a good host as two hummers fed on the feeder before I replaced it on its hook. Then, I realized, the hummers probably chose this south Louisiana neighborhood for its BAZILLION mosquitoes!
