Two monarchs on the butterfly bush during 10/6 & 10/7. 10/7 witnessed them flying off the bush, dancing around one another, then landing on the branch of a spent sunflower. One flew on top of the other, began mating, then they both fell together to the ground below, soft tall grass. They remained together, mating for a good 5-7 mins. Once finished the butterfly on top flew off and the other one took a minute to get herself together and then flew around the yard, eventually landing back on the butterfly bush. Amazing to see, something I don't expect to witness again. Took a photo but doesn't come close to seeing it happen.
