On our annual October daytrip to Fredericksburg's elegant Chatham Manor on the beautiful Rappahannock River, my husband and I counted 15 Monarchs nectaring amidst the columnar beds of New England asters lining the front walk. The butterflies with their vivid orange wings were in spectacular contrast to the softer lavender petals of the flowers. Enchanting!!!
