Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/10/2018

Number: 1

This hummer eyed a bee flitting overhead and watched its every move. There were no other hummers competing for any feeders and it was peaceful to watch the hummer casually take its time at the feeder. I’m not sure whether it was a juvenile male or a female. The white-chested hummer had a green back without white tips on its tail feathers.

I was at our local garden nursery today and counted at least a dozen hummers. The owner has a large potted plant area entirely devoted to hummingbird favorites...and they were swarming! She said she has hummers in the fall too. On that note, I picked up a few of the plants to bring home.
