I have been rescuing Monarchs for 8 years now. This year, we had lots of locals and then some migrants in July/August. The caterpillars ate all of our milkweed! Hurricane Florence stopped the migration for a month.
September-October, we are seeing some more. We have had few Monarchs this past month, but the females are laying lots of eggs. I started collecting late this year due to travels and wanting to tag them. I have 100 tags.
I have rescued hundreds of eggs and babies over the past few weeks. I have 4 cages going and containers for eggs. The tagging should begin next week.
The first butterfly should emerge any day now.
